Mayors' Alliance
Lawrenceburg Mayor Edwinna Baker with her signed USGBC Mayors' Alliance for Green Schools agreement, along with KY USGBC Advocacy Chairman Chris Tyler and KY USGBC Advocacy volunteer Maxine Rudder
The Mayors' Alliance for Green Schools is a coalition of mayors from large cities and small towns seeking to harness local-level leadership and creativity to promote the benefits of green schools in their communities. Members of the Mayor’s Alliance for Green Schools work with other mayors across the country to:
- Develop and leverage public-private partnerships with local businesses that create new opportunities for green school projects.
- Assist school districts with "greening" their existing facilities.
- Encourage state legislatures to create policies and incentives for green school improvements and operations.
- Engage in a national discussion about green schools, green jobs, and green infrastructure
