With the help of KY Chapter staff and volunteers, these U of L students, headed by instructor Hardy McKenzie, developed an outstanding Sustainability Core 101 course for the Chapter that will be implemented later in the year. “I now recycle” commented one of the students after working on the project, “and my in-laws do too after hearing what I learned putting this course together.”

Kentucky High Performance Buildings
With over 140 attendees the Kentucky High Performance Workshop on May 14 was a success. The workshop was hosted by Ashrae, AIA, Kentucky USGBC and the Kentucky Finance and Administration cabinet.
We're moving beyond the why behind the need for High Performance Buildings and onto the how.
The featured speaker was AIA National Executive Vice President and CEO Christine McEntee who discussed the AIA's sustainability policies and objectives as well as involvement in development of the IGCC. The presentation on the new ASHRAE 189.1 standard was well attended and George Mann from the KY Department of Housing Buildings & Construction informed of the status of adoption of the Kentucky Energy Code.
